Dr. Maxine Mimms is Professor Emerita of Evergreen State College and the founder of Evergreen State College’s Tacoma campus and the Maxine Mimms Academy. For her many achievements and community contributions, she was awarded Tacoma’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award in 2017. In this interview, Dr. Mimms details the role of education in her life, the genesis of the Hilltop campus, and her continued work.
