Antonio Edwards Jr.
A poet and educator, Antonio Edwards Jr. moved to Tacoma after serving in the U.S. Navy. Edwards later enrolled at Evergreen State College’s Hilltop campus where he developed an active interest in poetry. In this interview, Edwards Jr. discusses his memories of the neighborhood, his “Hilltopia” poem (KUOW, 2021), and his tenure as Tacoma’s Poet Laureate (2009).
